Ecclesiastes 7:9 Verse Kit

In the Verse Kit Box:

Cardstock tabloid-size house cutout

2 hearts

Review:

Lesson:

Children understand anger. This is a lesson I would focus on the activity and the conversation that naturally comes up. Feel free to guide the conversation somewhat: Do you know someone who is angry all the time? How do you feel when someone is angry? When do you get angry? Why? Did Jesus ever get angry? Why did God give us the emotion of anger? When/why is anger a good thing? Can we tell a parent when we get angry and why? Can we pray that we have wisdom to know what to do with our anger?

Kit:

  1. Color the house first!!! Then, cut around the outside of the house (and the chimney). Fold on the paste BOLD lines.

2. I used rubber cement as it dries faster and doesn’t leave wrinkles behind (I may have had an anal child or two!). After you glue, if you use a clip (or just hold it) for about 20 seconds, it’s easier to move on to the next part to glue.

3. Glue the other gables on to the roof. (FYI, 1 of these came apart to do the peak of the roof. See next photo.)

4. Glue the ridge of the roof together.

5. Reglue the last side of the gable to the roof, unless yours didn’t come apart to begin with!

6. Finally, glue the side of the house together. I stuck my whole arm up inside!

7. Clip the side for about 20 seconds, maybe 30. I didn’t time any of this, so I’m not sure.

8. On one of the hearts, write the word ANGER. On the other heart, write some of your favorite fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22,23)

9. Our verse says: “Do not become angry quickly. Anger lives in the heart of foolish people.” Put both hearts up to the door of the house. Which one do you want to go in? Which one do YOU want to live with?
