Jeremiah 9:24 NIV Verse Kit

In the Verse Kit Box:

18 inch punch balloon (1 per student)

Review:

Lesson:

1 Corinthians 8:1 says, “Knowledge puffs up while love builds up.”

Jeremiah 9:23 (the verse right before our memory verse) says, “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, the mighty man glory in his strength, the rich man glory in his riches” followed by our memory verse:

The word “boast” was translated “glory” in King James version, which means “puffed up” because when a person brags, they literally puff out their chest. Have your student try it: have them start a sentence by saying, “Well, I…” and finish with something they do really well. Notice how your chest expands!

Instead, we can give God the credit for our abilities: “God gave me the energy to play basketball; the patience to learn to paint; the courage to make friends, etc,” This “puff up” is why we have a balloon for our kit this week! While we should’t take credit for the things we do, we ARE to give credit (make God look BIG!) to God! Be sure to write the 3 words on the balloon that God delights in: KINDNESS, JUSTICE, and RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Kit:

Blow up the 18 inch punch balloon! Then write (carefully!) the 3 words that God delights in: kindness, justice, and righteousness.

Bible Literacy:

Help your student find Jeremiah 9:24 in their Bible. Underline it or highlight it so they can find it easily down the road.
