Lesson:
Introduce the verse by reading the entire verse card. Clarify “him” is referring to Moses. This takes place when Moses goes back up Mt Sinai the second time to get the 10 commandments. (FYI, v 6&7 is the most quoted passage of Scripture quoted by other Bible writers.)
Let the student know what part of the verse they will be memorizing. Older kids will learn the bold print words. Younger children would learn “The Lord God, abundant in goodness and truth” (which is still a mouthful!)
Have the student read through the part they will be learning twice (or repeat after you.)
Review (the verse cards above) from the past 3 weeks, the most recent week first.
Come back to the verse card and have them read the part they will memorize again. Take a moment to explain the picture of the nose on the card (and why the activity is How to Draw a Nose). The word LONGSUFFERING in Hebrew literally means “long of nostril.” We can see when other people are angry by their eyes, mouth, and nose. The nose flares when someone is mad. “Long of nostril” means the person waits a long time before their nose flares/they get angry. In other words, they are very patient.
For older kids, I had them learn the first 3 lines of the boldprint. I mentioned that the 3 hard words “merciful and gracious, longsuffering” are adjectives describing God. Once they could say the first 3 lines without looking, we added the last line.
Kit:

Using the video below (or another one of your choice), have the student draw a nose.
Bible Literacy:
Help your student find Exodus 34:6. Highlight or underline the verse. Read it together again.
