Lesson:
Introduce Psalm 19:4 by reading through the verse card. Have the student read through it twice.
Explain that the phrase “pitched a tent” means to put a tent up, like they put a tent up when they go camping.
Mention that the entire chapter of Psalm 19 (14 verses) talks about creation showing God’s glory. Read the first 4 verses together.
God made nature in such a way that it draws us closer to Him (James 4:8) When we look at the heavens, its a good reminder of how small we are and how great/big God is! He knows how many stars there are. He knows how many hairs are on our head.
Make sure children understand David is being poetic when he says God pitched a tent. Ask older children to replace “pitched a tent” with something they love to do and “for the sun” with some part of nature (ie “In the heavens God has thrown a baseball and it shines at night” or “In the heavens God has sprinkled glitter and it shines all night long.”)
Review the verse cards (above).
Come back to Psalm 19:4 and have the student read through it two more times. See if they can say it without looking. (For younger students, you will probably need to break it down into phrases.)
Kit:
- Put glue on cardstock. If possible, lightly mist (this spreads the glue evenly.)

2. Spread the glue and water to cover the paper. (I used my finger as it doesn’t bother me to get messy. Feel free to use a paintbrush, but be sure to rinse it out!)

3. Cover paper with fabric.

4. Fold in half.

5. Place over something to maintain the fold. (I used my glue bottle.)

6. Allow to dry into a tent shape.
7. Place the sun (ball) inside the tent and quote the verse. Show your parents and grandparents!

Bible Literacy:
Help your student find Psalm 19:4 in their Bible and underline/highlight it.
