As many books of the New Testament as they know. Feel free to use the Bible “book” they made last week!
Lesson on Luke 16:10:
Feel free to use the Diving Deeper questions below to use during your lesson. Because the review is taking longer (they know more of the NT books than before) and because there is an AFTER THE CALL activity, I tried to keep my call fairly short, so as not to eat up too much family time. We talked about playing outside in the snow, who had snow days and whether or not they were doing work online or if they were really off, and worked in some conversation about pets/responsibility (January’s elementary theme is Responsibility, hence the verse!)
The verse itself is hard to memorize word for word. The concept is easy. However, the “very”s and “also”s and “can/can/is/will” verb tense gets all mixed up inside your head. Depending on the child, and even the length of the conversation, I let the exact wording go in order to maintain the concept and love of God’s Word. For a few, we just memorized the first half. However, a few children I did push to memorize the whole verse correctly, as I thought they were up to the challenge. (The real challenge will come in following weeks when we review and I have to remember who I said what to!!!)

Bible Literacy/Diving Deeper into Luke 16:10
Help your child find Luke 16:10 in their Bible. Highlight it.
1. Based on the color of the words in your Bible (not the highlighter!), who said this verse? (Jesus)
2. Another often-quoted verse finishes up this parable. What does it say? (verse 13 No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.)
3. Even though Jesus was telling his disciples these things (verse 1), the Pharisees overheard the story (verse 14). What was their response? (they sneered at Jesus) Why? (they were covetous) What does that mean? (they loved money) Do we love money)?
4. Why does Jesus talk about being able to be trusted with little vs much in the same parable that He talks about money?
