1 Day and Counting…

Tomorrow my Gramma will be 100!!!

And she lives with me.

This has been quite the journey to celebrate her century. I’ve not shared half of what I wanted to, and twice as much as I should’ve!

3 gold foil nmber 1s stand as if on a pole. the landscaping in the background includes rock, rr ties, green sweet potato vine, red coleus, a tree, wooden and iron porch bench.

As we were sitting together this evening for a moment, I told her this was the last night she would be 99; double digits. Tomorrow she will be in the triple digits! She looked at me and asked if she should say something [profound]? I laughed and told her I thought she just did!

The Wise Old Owl

photo of a children's poetry book. the poem the wise old owl is printed at the top in Times New Roman. a large gray owl sits perched atop a U-shaped branch. green tree leaves are spread across the page. A wise old owl sat in an oak. The more he heard, the less he spoke; The less he spoke, the more he heard. Why aren't we all like that wise old bird?

She has a canny ability to listen twice as much as she speaks. She reminds me of the wise old owl. I strive to be more like that. The whole concept is wrapped up in one word: kindness.

Kindness

Kind to your friends, who will most likely be gone by the time you’re 100.

Kind to people 20 years younger than you, and 40.

Kind to your family members who share the same genes (especially your grandchildren; they might make a difference in your later years!).

Maybe, just be kind to everybody?

On the Eve of Your 100th Birthday

She has gone to bed early tonight; she’s VERY excited for tomorrow! If you drop by and stay for supper tomorrow evening, we’ll be having peanut butter and jelly on homemade bread!

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light: (1 Peter 2:9 KJV)
