In 2 days my Gramma will be 100.
And she lives with me.

Church and more church
Today is Sunday, Grandparents Day 2023. Sundays are good days for Gramma. She thoroughly enjoys going to church with my uncle and seeing her friends. She especially loves when they have potlucks, and today they had one!

Then home, and she napped in her chair all afternoon.
This evening was our annual church picnic and she went with us to that too!
I love to be outside. I love to watch people and see interactions. I like to see kids playing in the dirt and on the grass, and parents talking together. At dusk, I watched as one preschooler drew a moat around a “castle” in the sand, and a parent, containing their impatience to leave, squatted down next to them and gently asked about the details. These moments warm my heart.

As a children’s minister, I have been baffled about the response of children to my Gramma.
On several occasions she has been with me in class, and the elementary students are enthralled with her.

This evening, again, was no exception. Even as we left, a child gave her a last minute hug as Gramma teetered into the backseat of the car. I think adults and children alike are shocked when they discover her age, and she becomes a magnet for little ones, regardless of how well they know her.
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light: (1 Peter 2:9 KJV)
