Lesson:

Do the activity before or during the lesson.
Read Romans 3:23 to your student. Talk about the card being short after the rectangle has been cut off of the corner. Another illustration: running a 5K with a friend, and as you near the finish line, you stumble and fall, just short of the finish line, while your friend crosses the line. You fell short, just like we fall short of God’s holiness. We aren’t a Christian just because our parents are, or a friend is. We have to admit how we are personally not worthy to be in the presence of God because of our sin, and accept Jesus’ gift of paying the price for all our sin on the cross. Once we believe in His salvation, we will continue to sin, and we need to ask the people we wronged to forgive us, and pray for Jesus’ forgiveness too, but we don’t have to pray the salvation prayer every time. Salvation is a one-and-done acknowledgement of His gift.
Repeat the verse, and have your student repeat after you. Do this until the student has it memorized, usually about 7 times.
Vocabulary Words:
Glory: honor, dignity, holiness
Kit:

The verse card has dotted lines. Have the student cut on the dotted lines, cutting out a rectangle. (This will make the card “short.”)
Bible Literacy:
Help your student find Romans 3:23 in their Bible and highlight or underline it.
