Joshua 11:15

In the Verse Kit Box:

Review:

Lesson:

Review the verses from the previous 3 lessons (above), and any others that might be favorites. Read through Joshua 11:15 to introduce it. Determine how much of the verse the student will learn, and repeat that part. Discuss the Context for the Lesson (below). If you are going to talk about double negatives or the vocabulary word, now is the time to do that as well. Come back to the memory verse card. Read out loud the part the student is to learn. Have them repeat it back to you. Do this several more times until you are pretty sure they have it memorized.

Context for Lesson:

Moses had died and Joshua was the next leader of the Israelites. He led them out of the wilderness and into the Promised Land. This verse is a synopsis of how Joshua was doing: he was following the Lord on a daily basis, doing one thing at a time, completing the tasks assigned to him by God. He was leaving nothing undone.

Threads to Weave into the Lesson:

Depending on the age of your student, consider introducing double negatives and how they create a positive (“nothing undone” means everything was done.)

Vocabulary Words:

“Commanded” is used 3 times in this verse. Discuss the difference between commanded and requested. Can your mom ask you to do something, but it is really a command? Consider discussing manners.

Kit:

Using the kinetic sand kit provided, and any extra supplies around the house, build a 3D panoramic view of what the countryside might have looked like that Joshua and the Israelites conquered, because Joshua did everything God asked him to. Consider creating lakes, rivers, trees, mountains, valleys, fortified cities, etc.

Bible Literacy:

Help your student find Joshua 11:15 and underline or highlight the phrase “he left nothing undone.” Discuss together some of the things God may be calling you to not leave undone.
