Review:

Lesson:
Read the verse through twice, being sure to include the reference. If your child is memorizing the New Testament books, be sure to point out that 1 Timothy is in the NT.
Talk about the word MEDIATOR. Some kids will be familiar with the word MEDIATION, as occasionally people will go through mediation instead of going to court. This means that 2 people who disagree on something will have a 3rd person called a mediator (who is unbiased) help them come to an agreement. Jesus did this for us when He died on the cross. He is the mediator between God and us, drawing us together, reconciling us to God. If you look closely at the verse card, there is no end punctuation as the thought goes on in verse 6: [the man Christ Jesus] who gave Himself as a ransom for all people.
Mention in passing: there is a lion on the verse card to represent God/Jesus Who is called the Lion of Judah (Revelation 5:5).
Read 1 Timothy 2:5 again out loud and have the child read it.
Transition to doing your review (above). End with the books of the New Testament, a nice segue into 1 Timothy 2:5.
Read the verse and reference once more.
Have the child read the verse twice aloud, then see if they can say it without looking.
Kit:

- Take the fishing line and tiny crown out of the baggie. String the tiny crown onto the fishing line.

2. Put one end of the fishing line under the lion sticker.

3. Straighten the line and tape it down. Cut it to length, if necessary.

4. Take the paper off of the back of the reflective sticker and place the sticker over the tape and the end of the fishing line. The tiny crown should slide back and forth between the 2 stickers.
The lion sticker represents God, and the mirror shows us. The tiny crown represents Jesus Christ, just like He wore a crown of thorns on the cross and He wears a crown in Heaven today.
Jesus came from God to us (as a human) to draw us to God. He is the mediator, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all people. He died on the cross wearing a crown of thorns in order for us to be with God. But He didn’t stay dead! He rose 3 days later because He’s God! He is the bridge that connects us to the Holy God.
Bible Literacy:
Help the student find 1 Timothy 2:5 in their Bible and highlight or underline it.
(Consider finding Revelation 5:5 also.)
