Ephesians 6:10,11 NIV Verse Kit

In the Verse Kit box:

One helmet

One sheet of aluminum foil

Review:

Matthew 19:14
Ephesians 6:1

Tonight I made sure to review Ephesians 6:1 as it is in the same chapter as our verse this week. We talked about how soldiers train, just like children are in training. I asked my verse kitters what would happen if soldiers decided not to obey their commanding officer. After some discussion, we talked about how it’s important to obey even in the small things (including brushing teeth and going to bed), because soldiers have to obey even in the small things, and we ARE soldiers for Christ!

After introducing the 2 verses by reading through them, I mentioned that we will be memorizing this passage over the next month or so. We talked about how this was an introduction and it explained WHY we need the armor of God (to stand against Satan).

Be sure to ask what the word SCHEMES means (plans); I followed up by paraphrasing John 10:10: Satan’s plans are to steal, kill, and destroy. He wants people dead ASAP so they can’t have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Therefore, we need armor to protect us from the devil’s plans to destroy us.

We only memorized verse 11 (starting with PUT ON). Even though it’s a little long, surprisingly everyone was able to get it without much trouble. In one way or another, make sure the verse is said/repeated/recited 7 times.

Kit:

Use stick glue or hot glue to attach the aluminum foil to the helmet. After it has had a minute to dry, cut the slits for the eyes. Choose to either cut the mouth guard, or press the foil into the indents to create depth. Try to say the verse with the helmet on!

Bible Literacy:

Help your child find Ephesians 6:10 in their Bible and highlight it. Bonus points if you can find Ephesians by saying the books of the New Testament (instead of looking at the Table of Contents)!
