Review

As many books of the New Testament as you know.
Lesson
At the end of the call, I asked the parents (usually off screen but in the room) to cover their ears as I had a secret mission I wanted the kids to accomplish. I moved closer to the microphone (up close and personal to my nose and mouth!) and whispered their assignment so they could hear:

Their kit for this lesson is mini pumpkin and leaves sticky notes.

Their mission is to write something different on each one, and then hide them around the house where their parents can find them. We came up with some pretty creative ideas: in the refrigerator, in mom’s slippers, in dad’s truck seat, etc!
The kids really got excited about this!
Bible Literacy
Find Psalm 136:1 in your Bible and highlight it. By glancing at the next several verses, what phrase is repeated?
Diving Deeper
- Read Psalm 136. How many times does it say “His love endures forever”?
- Thanks-giving is a branch off of thanks offering, which the Israelites brought to God. How does the phrase “offering of thanks” make giving thanks seem different? (What does the word “offering” mean?) Is there sacrifice in an offering? Is there sacrifice when you give thanks?
- The hand motions for the verse indicate prayer is often used when giving thanks to God. Do we have to be praying to give thanks? What if our eyes aren’t closed or we’re in a crowded room? Can we thank God even then? If so, was it a prayer? What does it mean to pray anyway?
